Bp. High's visit to St. Elisabeth's

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, newly elected third provisional bishop of the diocese, made his first parish visitation to St. Elisabeth Episcopal Church, 5910 Black Oak Lane, Fort Worth, 76110 (River Oaks). St. Elisabeth's parishioners provided a generous reception for the bishop and Mrs. High, even though their parish hall is crammed full of crafts (most handmade by parishioners), books, and other items for the Book Sale and Bazaar 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, November 9, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 10. The Rev. Sandra Michels, priest in charge, presented Bishop High with one of the small metal crossed the parish is selling to raise funds for more improvements to the property. The bishop said it is the first thing he will hang on his wall in his office here. Click here to view photographs of the event.

Installation of Bp. Rayford High as third provisional bishop


The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High was elected and installed as the third provisional bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth at the 30th Diocesan Convention in Stephenville, TX. He succeeds the Rt. Rev. C Wallis Ohl, who succeeded the Rt. Rev. Edwin F. Gulick, Jr. Bishop Gulick was elected at the 2009 Special Meeting of the Diocesan Convention which reorganized the diocese following the departure of the former bishop and other leaders from The Episcopal Church.

C. Wallis Ohl, second provisional bishop of Fort Worth


The Rt. Rev. C. Wallis Ohl, came out of retirement to serve as the second provincial bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth at the November 2009 diocesan convention. He returned to retirement following the 2012 diocesan convention. He is succeeded by the Rt. Rev. Rayford High, third provisional bishop of Fort Worth. Bp. Barbara Harris at St. Christopher


Bishop Barbara Harris, the retired bishop suffragan of Massachusetts, and the first woman bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion, was a speaker in the 2011 Lenten Series of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth on April 2. Here is a video of her presentation.

Reconciliation Tech


For the Lenten Series offering on March 26, The Very Rev. Nicholas Knisely, dean of Trinity Cathedral, Phoenix, AZ spoke to us. His topic was "How communications technology can be used in the work of reconciliation." Here is a video of his presentation.

Bishop Wallis Ohl visits All Saints'-Fort Worth - 01/09/11

Bishop Wallis Ohl visited All Saints Fort Worth on Sunday, January 9, 2011. He baptized two infants, Charlotte Vossen Stinneford and Sanders Tatro Kent. He confirmed 20 members of the "Journey to Adulthood" class (grades 9-10), and four adults (names in bold). They are Elizabeth Bender, Holloway Bird, Doug Clark, Sarah Evans, Helen Griffin, Katie Hale, Claire Hill, Jean Holbert, Brindley House, Gaddis House, Thomas House, Chris Jambor (grandson of the Rector), Andrew Johnsen, Ian Johnsen, Wende Dwyer-Johnsen, Emma Manlove, Alex Page, Gabby Rajan, Andrew Roberts, Diana Roberts, Rachel Rutledge, Byron Slugg, Browning Stimson, Devin Ward, Robert Wood. Also, Marci Stocker was received from the Roman Catholic Church, and David Griffin re-affirmed his faith. A reception was held in the parish hall between the 9 a.m. and 11:15 services.

Bishop Wallis Ohl visits St. Mary's-Hillsboro - 11/21/10


Bishop Wallis Ohl visited St. Mary's, Hillsboro, on November 21 -- Christ the King Sunday. In addition to celebrating and preaching, he inducted Elsa Scott into the Order of the Daughters of the King. Per capita, St. Mary's may have the highest membership in DOK in The Episcopal Church. Following the service, the bishop joined the congregation for lunch at the nearby home of Dr. David Skelton, senior warden of St. Mary's.

Christ the King benefit - 10/17/10

On October 17 Christ the King held a benefit to aid the ministry of parishioner Dr. Andy Babbili to the lepers of Hyderabad, India. The benefit was held at St. Luke's in the Meadow in their parish hall.

Strength for the Journey

The weekend of September 24/25, 2010, 125 people from the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, including the Rt. Rev. C. Wallis Ohl, provisional bishop of the diocese, attended a "Strength for the Journey" conference presented by the CREDO Institute. Inc. at the Sheraton Hotel in Arlington. (more...)

St. Simon & St. Christopher - 9/12/10

On Sunday, September 12, St. Simon of Cyrene and St. Christopher held a joy-filled ceremony to join their two ministries. A Eucharist and the Chapel dedication were followed by a festive reception in the new Family Life Center, which was dedicated by Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori in February 2009 when she was in Fort Worth to preside at a Special Convention to reorganize the diocese.
